Of all the albums I made last year this fall-themed Heirloom Wedding Album that we made for Ty and Amanda is one of my favorites. It is large, 12×15 inches, and substantial with over 100 pages of heavy archival rag paper. As in all of our Heirloom Albums, we feature several of the most dramatic photographs as gatefold spreads. My favorite part though is the cover with the gold-filled rip running across the lower section. There is a Japanese pottery tradition called Kintsukuroi that uses gold to repair broken ceramics as a way of drawing attention to the breaks and acknowledging that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken. It seemed fitting for the wedding album of a couple of young doctors.
